Jake Plaissance

Jake was born in Cairns, Australia and grew up in Indonesia until he was 9 years old and his family moved to Sugar Land, Texas. After two failed shoulder surgeries at the age of 15 he was diagnosed with Ehlors-Danlos Syndrome, leading to hypermobility of his joints. He was unable to get clearance from doctors to play school sports and turned to Brazilian Jiujitsu after watching the UFC on TV. He fell in love with Jiujitsu and ended up losing 110lbs on the mats and starting his career under Eric Williams at Elite Martial Arts in Houston. He is currently a purple belt under Bubba Bush in Brazilian Jiu Jitsu, the head kids coach at BVMMA, and a student at Texas A&M where he coaches and leads the Texas A&M MMA club.

He recently won Gold in the “5” Grappling Texas Purple belt Middle Heavyweight Division.

And eventually wants to take his talents back to Indonesia and live there for at least long enough to start a gym and spread the art to the far corners of the world while also putting his degree to good use by helping to preserve Indonesia’s tropical rainforest.
